| Family Care Shelter |
 |
The Shelter provides temporary
emergency shelter for 60 homeless
individuals nightly. Services include
housing, meals, counseling, and
housing and job searches. In FY
2006, the 60-bed Family Care Shelter
provided 18,497 bed nights to residents
of the community, and still turns
away approximately 100 people a
month for shelter. Thirty-five percent
(35%) of the residents sheltered
are children. It cost SERVE approximately
$650,000 to feed and shelter residents
in 2006. |

Community Transitional Housing Program
SERVE operates several transitional
housing units in Manassas. Eligible
families receive subsidized housing
and intensive support services for
up to 24 months. Services include
subsidized child care, counseling,
parenting education, and a variety
of activities that focus on improving
the self-sufficiency of families.

Effort)
This program serves people exiting
from the Adult Detention Center
with funding from the United States
Department of Justice. The program's
services include housing assistance,
job skills training, education,
substance abuse and mental health
services. In 2007, 112 clients
received services and assistance
from this program. |
| Food Warehouse |
 |
The
Food Warehouse provides emergency food assistance that effectively prevents
hunger in the local community. SERVE receives food donations from concerned
individuals, local grocery stores, area farmers and markets as well as food
drives run by dozens of churches and community groups. SAFE, which stands for Sustaining
the At-home by Furnishing Essentials,
is a Food Warehouse program that provides essential food and personal care
items to the homebound. In 2007, the Food Closet provided over $1 Million
worth of food to 9,677 families including specialty programs such as Operation
Turkey. In addition, food was supplied to the shelter to serve three meals a
day to residents.

| Life Skills Training
Program |

SERVE is actively involved
in promoting self-sufficiency by providing clients with basic skills for
living. Training includes classes in word processing, employment development,
household maintenance, budgeting, parenting, and other important skills that
give individuals the ability to achieve independence.

 |
SERVE

| Emergency Assistance
Department |

financial counseling and assistance for rent,
utilities, medical and prescriptions. EA also screens for free supplemental
food, provides school supplies and information and referral about resources
throughout the county. Almost 400 households received an average of $225 in
financial aid. More than $88,500 in cash assistance was provided for our
community’s most vulnerable citizens. |
